For parents
A calm guide to Ascend
Six honest answers to the questions parents ask most. Every number below is read live from our rules.
Will my child fall into debt?+
The limit is small: 25% of what lands in their account each month, between ₹1,000 and ₹5,000. The bill is paid in full every cycle, and if it isn't, spends pause straight away. There's no way to build up a big balance.
Are there hidden fees?+
No. Interest if the bill is paid on time: 0%. Processing fee: ₹0. Annual fee: ₹0. Late fee: ₹0. All of these are listed in the Key Fact Statement your child must read before agreeing.
Will anyone call us or harass us if they're late?+
Never. Reminders go only to your child. After 7 grace days spends pause, and if a bill stays unpaid we offer a 2/3-month repayment plan. Any recovery is done only by Northbridge Bank, a regulated bank, under RBI rules. We never contact family, friends or college.
Is this one of those shady loan apps?+
No. The money is lent by Northbridge Bank, which is regulated by the RBI; Ascend is the app that helps students use it well. We never ask for contacts, photos, SMS or location, and complaints go to a named grievance officer, with escalation to the RBI after 30 days.
Why does a credit history matter at this age?+
Banks decide on future loans, rentals and even some jobs using credit history. Starting with a small limit and paying on time builds that history safely. A missed payment is reported to the bureaus only after 30 days, giving plenty of time to fix it.
Can I see what my child spends?+
Only if they choose to share, and even then you see their on-time status, streak and progress, never what they bought or how much. They can switch the link off at any time. It's their record to build.
Still unsure? Ask your child to show you the Key Fact Statement. Every fee is on it.
Lent by Northbridge Bank (RBI regulated) · 0% if paid on time · ₹0 late fee · We never access your contacts
